State of the PWNED 2008

As everyone knows, we were not On-The-Air last weekend due to a Late Tigers Game start. Now, I appreciate all the emails from last Sunday.. I really do, but you must understand, it is not the stations fault we get bumped.

97.1 FM has been so great to keep us on the air going into our 2nd year. We are very happy "They" get it! Each an every year the Video Game Industry gets bigger and bigger and I know this Video Game Show format does work!

The radio industry is rated via a rating system called Arbitron. Each quarter they release what is call a ratings book. Stations look at these numbers and decide who is doing well and who needs improvement. Well, PWNED RADIO does "OK" here for the weekend, I'd say top 20 in the Detroit Market in our time slot from 8-10pm. You maybe wondering why I'm telling you this... Well, from time to time we get emails asking us "How are we doing in the ratings?" I believe, because we have not had a "Home" time slot our numbers could be higher. NOT THE STATIONS FAULT! We are on a very successful radio station and that's the price we pay. I also think, we have a lot of Internet stream listeners and podcast followers across the country, that doesn't track very well via Arbitron.

Hopefully one day very soon, we will have a real "Home" time slot that we can call our own! I think once we stop moving around, this will really show the station, gamers deserve they're Gaming Radio!

I love our fans, they are the greatest! When I meet people out & about, they are so cool and friendly. I love being stopped and asked about PWNED RADIO! I could be at the Ice Cream shop grabbing a cone and someone hears my voice and asks... "Are you Shane from PWNED RADIO?" Our my son comes home from school, Stevenson High in Sterling Heights and tells me people in class were talking about last nights PWNED RADIO. How great is that! BUT.... I also talk to A LOT of gamers all across the Detroit area and ask them if they even know about our show. When they say "No", I scratch my head and go WOW.. The second I tell them about it, they are like "Great, I only wish I knew about it before, now I have something cool to listen too." This happens more then you think. So I was thinking how can we fix this? I'm going to tell you...

1.) I think we need EVERY ONES help! A PWNED RADIO Street team? If you want to help email me at sirrens@pwnedradio.com During the show, I will announce what street team member has done what.. Thoughts?

2.) Bring a friend! If each and everyone of you, just told a friend about us.. That would double our friends! Takes five minutes to make a podt on your myspace or clan website. Please can I get some help here? Let people know at your school or work!

3.) Get people to wear a PWNED RADIO t-shirt? I'm not a wealthy guy, but if I could I would buy each and everyone of you a PWNED shirt! 4.) PODCASTS - It drives me nuts that if you open iTunes on your computer and search PWNED RADIO. We show up there in the store! BUT, we can not get featured on iTunes. I don't know how this is picked but when I see some guy in his basement with no production and a bad show getting featured, just burns my ass! Ok, now that I've got everyone helping.. I'm not asking for help because we are going off the air. I just need help getting the word out about PWNED RADIO. I really want to show the station GAMERS are a force to be reckoned with and a loyal group!
